ATVing weather again!

I’ve been kinda slacking on new blogs but I haven’t been wheeling that much this summer.  With all the kids stuff, weddings, family stuff, etc going on I’m glad fall is here and its time to get out ATVing again!  The leaves are at 100% peak or already on the ground, most if not all of the bugs are gone, we get the morning moisture to keep the dust down and the WEATHER is BEAUTIFUL!

This weekend we’re leaving from Hibbing and heading to Liquid Larry’s in Kinney, anyone that wants to join us is welcome to come.  I’ll have pictures next week.  Almost forgot, I pick up my new Can-am Outlander 800 X-MR.  I’ll get pictures out there soon as I have them!!

Planning an ATV trip to the Iron Range? I’m here to help!

Finally a list of ATV trails located near many businesses throughout the region & a few Iron Range businesses made the list!

As I look through the list I see a handful Iron Range hotels, motels, resorts, campgrounds, trails, etc, but there are a lot that didn’t make the list.  Now, I’m not sure why they didn’t,  but that’s why I’m here!  To HELP YOU!

If you’re planning an ATV trip to the Iron Range and need any help at all please ask me!

If our schedules gel, I’d even be willing to give you a guided ride on some of my favorite hidden trails that aren’t necessarily on the map….

Now, let’s get out and ride!

Iron Range ATV trail map

For those of you planning to trailer your ride up to the Iron Range this weekend, here’s a great map that will give you a better idea of all of the trails that wind their way through (and around) the Iron Range.

Here’s the link: http://ironrange.org/_site_components/pdf/IRTB_ATV_Broc_WEB.pdf

You can also contact the Iron Range Tourism Bureau (or stop there on your way north) to get your very own copy. You can request one online here, or call 800-777-8497 and they’ll mail you a copy.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Spring Ride Near Virginia/Gilbert

Spring is arguably some of the best riding of the YEAR on the Iron Range.  I have pictures to prove it!!!

This time of year is awesome out on the trails, low maintenance roads, old mine and logging roads, etc.  Depending on the area you usually end up with six inches (or so) of water and the mud is still frozen underneath, allowing you to get places you sometimes can’t get to in summer or fall months.  This ride started in Virginia, heading south into Gilbert and ending up down by by K&B Drive In (south of Eveleth).

I want to here about your Iron Range riding hot spots!

Oh, and thanks for the pictures, Stacey!

Stay tuned for AWESOME news from Northern Traxx ATV Club and Yamaha Corporation!

30 ATV’s? Thats a RIDE on RANGE!!!

Water Skips on Lake Vermilion last weekend was GREAT!  The weather was questionable for ATVing (some would say) but that didn’t stop us or the other 800+ people we met up with.  These pictures prove it was a huge kick off to Spring ATV riding on the Iron Range last weekend.

We had 30 ATV’s, side-by-sides and a few snowmobiles for the big ride.  We left Fortune Bay Resort~Casino at about 11 a.m., hung out at Water Skips till about 4 p.m., stopped at the Vermilion Club on the way back for Poor Gary’s Pizza (and to warm up), and ended up back at Fortune Bay about dark.  Everyone had a great time and plans are already being talked about for next year!  Now, lets hear about your spring ATV rides…

Finally a Machine built for IRON RANGE riding!!!

Things are finally starting to get back to normal each day (with a new baby in the house)! It’ll sure be something when I’m able to get him on the trails with me. Though that time is a little ways away, I can’t wait.

Anyway, I found some time to kick back and page through ATV magazine and thought I’d blog a little about what I discovered…

First, let me start off by saying this…..for the record, I’m not biased because I ride Arctic Cat. I do not favor one particular manufacturer over another. Like anything else in this world, there are pros and cons to each of the machines. In fact, in our typical riding group, my buddy Dave rides a Can-am 800, Gary runs a Polaris Sportsman 700, Ed hits the trails with a Grizzly and then there’s me (blowing them all away, of course) with my Thundercat (Cat, of course, sets the standard for the rest - LOL). All are really great machines!!!

Check out the new MUD PRO 700EFI H1 from Arctic Cat!!! In the article I read says the Mud Pro comes stock with 28″ Outlaw MST’s, aluminum rims, it has 14″ of ground clearance, comes stock with a 3000 lb winch, front and rear bumpers, new clutch and gear set-up, awesome new color (my opinion of course) and last but not least a SNORKEL KIT!!!

If you read Minnesota Laws. they state the rule for a Snorkel is that it can’t be higher than 6″ above the stock air intake port. Now the stock air intake is snorkel height!!! Why is this such a big deal to me???? If you were there in Silver Bay when we had a Heated Debate with a CO on the snorkel laws you’d understand….. Thats another story to be told later!!!!

Whatever you ride (especially on the Iron Range) it’s worth looking at the new MUD PRO from Cat!

Or ask Todd and the guys at Pokegama Lawn and Sport. My Favorite place!!!!
