Hello ATV enthusiasts! The snow on the Iron Range is slowly melting and, I don’t know about you, but I’ve got the itch to get out on the trails and ride!

Though there’s still some snow on the more wooded, hidden trails, but with temps in the 40s and 50s, it should all be disappearing soon!
If you want to get out and ride NOW, the Gilbert Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area is great choice! The state’s first OHVRA is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the month of April (open seven days a week from May-October). The park is a great option as there are more than 1,200 acres of terrain to tackle.
The Iron Range region offers riders so many more opportunities and so much more diverse terrain and great riding experiences than any other area in the state of Minnesota (or the Midwest for that matter).
Many lodging facilities and campgrounds cater to ATV-OHV riders and some offer special lodging packages. Check ‘em out here. Plus, you rest assured that the Iron Range will be ‘a-buzz’ with great dining options, nightlife and entertainment to add a little extra adventure to your trip!
Be sure to check back throughout the season as I showcase of some the greatest ATV trails in the Midwest, found right here on the Iron Range.
Looking forward to seeing more information. If you and your group have any organized rides planned, please send me a note. We’d be happy to include a link on the Rapids Riders ATV Club website. http://www.rratv.org
Best wishes!
Hi, Mark! If you’d be so kind as to link to this blog, that’d be great, too! If you’re out riding, let me know how the trails are in your neck of the woods!
No problem on the link, we’ll get that done for you Larry. All of us are excited about the progress on the 70-mile Trail http://www.70miletrail.net Once completed, it should have some nice effects on the Range Cities for long haul ATV’ers. There seems to be a new interest in ATV tourism and a lot of cities are getting involved.
The trails over here are too wet for riding yet, the recent snows are great for the forests but a challenge for our patience. The creeks are still full and that’s good for our lakes too. A week or two and our quads will be humming down the trails.
Enjoy the Summer & Safe Trails!
Mark
Hi, Mark. Thanks for writing back to me! I’m really looking forward to getting out and riding some more! Maybe we can get together and ride the trails with you this summer. It’d be awesome to set-up a big ride on the trails on the Range this summer with a bunch of different trail clubs from across the area. Let me know if you are interested! On another note, the progress on the 70 mile trail is very positive for the entire ATV industry and Iron Range as a whole.
That sounds like a great idea. The Club President told me I was the volunteer ride coordinator for our club rides this year. (huh? me?) So we should make arrangements to do that. It would be fun to get some other groups together and have a weekend ride.
The 70-Mile Trail will be great for the whole area once it’s completed. I think most people will look at it’s value to the community and support it. I’m excited to see it coming!
